Natasha is the newly appointed Community Engagement Specialist for 3 of our Newark Schools – George Washington Carver, 13th Avenue School and Camden Street School. As the CES, her role will be to guide and implement ASAS’ efforts to engage community stakeholders in ASAS’s work throughout Newark. Working within ASAS’ mission and vision, the Community Engagement Coordinator will translate objectives related to stakeholder engagement into programmatic initiatives. The core activities of the position include relationship building, parental empowerment, partnership development and coalition building.

Prior to joining ASAS, Natasha worked with North Star Academy Charter School as a Parent Engagement Consultant. During her tenure, she helped parents raise their voices in leading the charge of ensuring that every scholar in Newark, whether Traditional or Charter, receives a High-Quality Education.

Before consulting for North Star, Natasha worked for Prudential Financial for 13 years. Over those years, she started in Human Resources as a Senior Staffing Operations Analyst. Moving forward, she then moved over to Prudential’s In- House Advertising Agency as an Executive Assistant and Media Coordinator for 10 years. In that role, she assisted in the expanding of Prudential’s multi-cultural platform to help amplify its role in educating, empowering and securing financial confidence among the African American community. Her role allowed her to implement sponsorship deliverables for their Corporate Sponsorship Projects that ranged from $20k to $400MM. These sponsorship projects raged from Sports (Prudential Center, NJ Devils, Red Bulls, PGA, LPGA, Seton Hall and Rutgers Football) and Multi-Cultural (Essence, Black Enterprise, The Root.com, Wes Moore, Oprah, BlogHer, and The Positive Community Magazine).

Natasha is heavily engaged and dedicated to her community – Newark. Her solid passion for uplifting and empowering her community has allowed her to volunteer as a Food Pantry Coordinator, a mentor at She Win LLC, and as an Education Advocate. She’s extremely excited in knowing that her experience and resources will allow her to bring more transparency to the term “Community Schools” in this newly formed role as ASAS’s Community Engagement Specialist.
